CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY, after the documentary

APERITIF CONFERENCE #5

Conference
  • 15.12.2018

With Dorothée Duvivier, curator at the BPS22.

Since the 1960s, photography has freed itself from its technical dimension in order to move closer to the milieu of plastic arts. In an age in which images are omnipresent, we take a look at three major orientations which have marked contemporary photography: that of the document which disturbs or sublimates reality (Bernd and Hilla Becher, Thomas Ruff, Andreas Gursky), that of the narration which identifies more closely with cinema (Nan Goldin, Sophie Calle) and that of the pictorial tradition with pictures” (Jeff Wall, Jean-Marc Bustamante).
