Ludivine Large-Bessette
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
As part of the Éclats [Outburst] project, initiated by the Hauts-de-France & cross-border territories visual arts hub 50° NORD – 3° EST [50° NORTH – 3° EAST], BPS22 is partnering with the École supérieure d'art Dunkerque – Tourcoing [Dunkirk – Tourcoing Specialist School of Art], the Fondation Francès [Francès Foundation] (Clichy) et La Maison [The House] (Lens) to support the development of an artistic production that forms part of a long-term project.
Artist Ludivine Large-Bessette, whose work explores the concepts of desire and love, has been selected to lead the project. Continuing her research, she proposes to take on a remarkable heritage work: the 44 stained glass windows of the Psyche Gallery at the Château de Chantilly (1542-1544), retracing the myth of Cupid and Psyche. Driven by an ongoing desire to critically review ancient mythology, the visual artist intends to reinterpret this story and its historical representation through an installation combining video and photography, confronting them with contemporary sensitivities and current personal experiences.
Further information is available on her website and Instagram.
