Laurence Dervaux

Monograph

Laurence Dervauxs monograph is published to coincide with her solo exhibition at BPS22. The artist has taken over the entire museum with an exhibition that combines a retrospective perspective with previously unseen works. Her practice centres on the human body, seeking to give form to its complex beauty as well as its fragility. The body is never shown head-on; it is suggested through a vocabulary of signs and forms. Vital fluids, organs or even bone structures are transposed into vast fascinating apparatuses.

Co-published by BPS22 and Éditions du Caïd, this monograph retraces the artist’s career and presents work specially created for BPS22. It features texts by Catherine Henkinet, Exhibitions Officer at ISELP, and Pierre-Olivier Rollin, Director of BPS22.

Born in Tournai, Belgium, in 1962. Laurence Dervaux is a visual artist whose practice spans several disciplines, including installation, video and drawing. She has featured in numerous exhibitions in Belgium and internationally, including at the Fondation Hermès in Seoul and Singapore, and the Busan Biennale in South Korea. Her work is held in a range of public and private collections in Belgium and abroad.
