Médiation

The main purpose of mediation at BPS22 is to forge meaningful connections between artworks and the public, through a participatory approach that always puts human interaction at the heart of its activities.

In addition to guided tours, the museum’s mediation team organises activities for all age groups, from adults to the very youngest visitors.

The core aims of our mediation

  • to invite people into contact with art;
  • to support the questions that exhibitions may raise;
  • to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included;
  • to introduce new forms of artistic expression;
  • to stimulate ideas and exchange;
  • to lead creative awakening workshops;
  • to bring together diverse audiences;
  • to foster close, reciprocal relationships;
  • to create moments where meaning meets emotion;
  • to explore the links between art and society;
  • to seek answers together.

BPS22 Essentials

To help shift perspectives and bring action to words, the mediation team offers a regular series of Essentials! These are occasional events where different disciplines meet, clash, and cross-pollinate around pressing social issues.

Readings, performances, music, and dance all feature, treating art as a space for gathering and connection between people of all ages, backgrounds, and interests.

> APERITIF CONFERENCES

The museum’s art historians lead accessible and engaging talks designed to demystify contemporary art and challenge the perception that it is impenetrable or elitist. At BPS22, art is more open and approachable than it might first seem.

> DISCOVERY WORKSHOPS

These workshops for adults, led by practising artists, offer hands-on introductions to techniques such as screen printing, tufting, photography, and collage – encouraging creativity and dialogue in a warm, inspiring atmosphere.

> CHILDREN’S HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS

During school holidays, children aged 8 to 12 are invited to explore a wide range of artistic practices with BPS22’s activity leaders. These sessions are often inspired by current exhibitions or developed in partnership with institutions such as the Museum of Photography and Quai 10 cinema.

> ART & EARLY YEARS WORKSHOPS

In collaboration with the Théâtre de la Guimbarde, BPS22 also offers exploratory workshops for children aged 6 months to 5 years.

> REFLECTION DAYS

Through themed days, BPS22 aims to present a plurality of perspectives by inviting philosophers, artists, writers, historians, and sociologists to share their thinking – not through formal lectures, but through conversation. These events are open to anyone curious about seeing the world from new angles.
